Google appears to be preparing the launch of a game center for Android. Although the name is still unknown, it looks like the new hub will feature multiplayer support, lobbies, in-game chat, and of course leaderboards and achievements.
The leaked information comes to us courtesy of Android Police, which has been tearing apart the apk file for MyGlass, the Google Glass companion app that launched earlier this week.
There’s no reason to think that all these features will ship at once. We suspect that basic multiplayer support will be first, with social gaming features such as competing with friends on Leaderboards. This could arrive as soon as Google’s Developer conference next month, or it could be something the company is simply playing around with. Either way, it’s definitely exciting news. Android gamers deserve it.
