Since Noodlecake games released Super Stickman Golf 2 in March of 2013 they’ve been promising big updates. It have have taken longer than some expected but the first update is here. And as promised — it’s packed!
SSG2 Version 2.0 brings many, many new items, characters, levels and more. My favorite improvement in the game goes to a change in the way things are unlocked. Previously attaining XP points and bucks became increasingly difficult as you progressed through the game. And I’m not talking about the kind of increased difficulty every game should have to unlock special items. To unlock the last few characters and hats required either lots of money or time… or both. The xp points were set extremely high and the amount of bucks required for any hope at getting a hat in the hat lottery was insane. Noodlecake has addressed this problem and significantly reduced these numbers.
As you may expect, the developers added a bunch of new levels. 2 new tours with 4 new courses each for a total of 72 new holes. Not too shabby. Some new game mechanics are introduced as well, including a plethora of buzz saws. Also add 7 new hats, 4 new charcters/costumes and 11 new achievements will give even the experienced player plenty more to shoot for.
Multiplayer wasn’t left out either. The biggest change is in the new “clean ball” mode to help even the playing field a bit. This iteration removes all of your power-ups and hats and forces each player shoot clean shots. This is great as when I play with newbies it’s no fun for them if I’m using the nitro and magnet ball and getting the ball in the hole practically before their first shot lands. Previously, I’d just ask them what they’ve unlocked and try not to use anything they don’t have, but that can get quite confusing, so this is a welcome addition in my opinion..
Lastly is the integration of the replay sharing, Everyplay. People have been uploading crazy trick shots all day so this is bound to be a hit. Additionally Google has added the ability to save your progress to the cloud.
The free update is available on both iOS and Google Play. So get updating and show us your trick shots via Facebook or Twitter, we’d love to see ‘em!
NOTE: Unfortunately this release was not without issue for me. After updating to 2.0 I, for some reason, lost the all progress for the first course of each tour. All awards for bucks, clean ball and gold stars are gone. Because of this the other courses in the original tours are now locked since it appears as though I haven’t completed the first course. Though my awards for these courses remain. Weird. I reached out to Noodlecake regarding the issue and they think they’ve nailed down the issue. I’m not really sure how progress will be restored though. I’ll have to see after they release the patch. I mention all this obviously as a warning to backup. Most people aren’t having the issue I had but it’s obviously a possibility. Stay safe out there!
