We now have one more talented game developer to follow. Or maybe one less depending on how you look at it. EA is taking two studios – IronMonkey and Firemint – and merging them into a single Studio called FireMonkeys. Together these two Melbourne, Australia based studios have entertained for 5o million players. If your unfamiliar with the developers names you’re sure to recognize the games. Firemint has put out great and polished games like Flight Control and the Real Racing titles while IronMonkey has given us Mass Effect Infiltrator, Dead Space and The Sims FreePlay.
As far as what to expect from the new team we have an excerpt from the press release:
“By aligning the strategy of IronMonkey and Firemint, EA is able to create an even more focused team of passionate individuals who are dedicated to developing high-quality mobile game experiences. This merge in the mobile space is resulting in positive overall growth for the Firemonkeys team, as the studio is now hiring for several positions. Fans should expect to see progressive development efforts with upcoming launch and project announcements in 2012.”
So there you have it. I think there may be some new, innovative and VERY visually appealing games in our future.
